The 5 Best Pool Scenes in Miami
For my birthday last month, the husband and I wanted a beach getaway. We hadn’t been to Miami in several years, so my birthday was the perfect excuse to go back. What’s amazing is how much things have changed in just a few years! When looking for a hotel in Miami (and particularly in South Beach) we wanted one with a fun pool scene. Since there are so many hotels with such different vibes I teamed up withn Expedia.com to share the 5 best pool scenes in Miami depending on what you’re looking for.
1 // Best chill pool – The Miami Beach EDITION
This is where we ended up staying on our trip. Since my travel schedule has been crazy, I was looking for a relaxed pool scene. The Miami Beach EDITION hotel is cool, modern, luxurious and family friendly… without feeling like Disneyworld. We saw several families during our stay, but it was definitively not overrun. So, if you’re looking for a babymoon destination or a chill place to take a toddler, this is the pool scene for you. (And if you’re like us with no kids you’ll love it too!)
2 // Best “feel like you’re in Europe” pool – Faena Hotel Miami Beach
Want a chill European atmosphere without leaving the US… then check out the Faena! Besides being extremely stylish and upscale this resort is known for its love of art and gastronomy served with a side of whimsy. Which also perfectly explains the pool scene. You’ll be exposed to a wide variety of languages and you might just feel like you’ve been transported to another country. If you stay for a bite to eat, make sure to try the tuna tartare. It’s the best I’ve ever had and the perfect snack when hanging poolside!
3 // Most Iconic Pool – Raleigh Miami Beach
Home to one of the most legendary pools in Miami, this is one gem not to be missed. While it’s important to note that the hotel is CLOSED for renovations as of this posting, I can’t wait to see what it looks like when they’re finished. Stay tuned for updates on when this hotel reopens!
4 // Best Party Scene (a triple tie)
Miami is known as a place to party, especially in South Beach. That’s why this category is too hard to narrow down to one! So, I’ve picked my top three…
a // SLS South Beach – Hyde Beach Club
For those interested in a club scene, the Hyde Beach Club at SLS South Beach is among the best in the area. Offering an indoor/outdoor venue with over 8,000 square feet of party space. Head there on the weekends starting Friday for their famous pool parties and check their calendar for a list of their upcoming live music.
b // Delano South Beach
One of the hotels that first made South Beach the party scene it’s known for today. The pool is every bit as hip as the updated Art Deco building the hotel is housed in. Hanging out by the Delano pool is for those that like to see and be seen. This is a lounging pool first and foremost and be sure to check out the Delano Beach Club for live entertainment after 7 p.m.
c // Freehand Miami
We kept having friends tell us we HAD to check out the Freehand. (And yes, it’s a hostel… and yes, it’s full of hipsters, but that’s why it’s still THE place to go.) And they were right! The hip pool scene is the perfect place to enjoy a drink but make sure to stay for dinner at 27 restaurant. It was the best dinner we had during our trip and a great value!
5 // Best Sunset – The Standard Spa, Miami Beach
Located between South Beach and downtown Miami, the Standard hotel sits on Belle Isle and offers incredible sunsets. Whether you’re hanging out in the pool or sipping on a drink at the Lido Bayside Grill, the view alone is worth the trip. After a day at the pool, book an appointment at the Standard’s spa for some holistic pampering.
