If you’re planning on going to Austin, Texas it’s easy style-wise. That’s because this city is not only the state capital but also the capital of casual chic. No need for heels here — just ditch them for sneakers, wedges, or sandals. And the funkier the better!
Keep Austin weird
Since we only had a couple days, I didn’t get to check out everything I wanted to. So I’ll share with you a couple of spots we did get to enjoy and recommend you visit. The city is known for being weird but how about having dinner and drinks at a hostel or sipping on cocktails in an underground parking garage?
We did both! Native is a hostel/kitchen/bar that offers an eclectic menu from smothered waffles fries to some of the most delicious Indian samosas I’ve ever had. Hostels usually just mean affordable lodging but I’m pretty sure this is the only one you’ll actually want to visit as a destination itself. It’s a party waiting to happen. After some food and drinks at Native we headed to the Garage which as the name implies is hidden in a parking garage. This mid-century modern/industrial space was the perfect way to end the night. Loved the vibe and drinks… and especially the music. They have a great vinyl collection!
As far as during the day, we loved walking up and down South Congress Avenue (SOCO). I suggest getting coffee at Jo’s (and take a picture at the famous “I love you so much” wall — see above) and be sure to check out Mañana Coffee. Not only for their delicious coffee but some of the BEST cookies I’ve ever tasted!
What to wear
While exploring South Congress I got to wear one of my favorite outfits of the trip. I love a pj top (remember this one) and knew this one from Veronica Beard would fit Austin perfectly. It even has matching pants! But instead I went with a pair of these cropped flared jeans…
It wasn’t the only cute piece from the Veronica Beard spring collection so you’ll have to stay tuned to see what else I wore!
