Maybe it was this coat that did it, but lately I’ve been wanting more colorful outerwear options.  So this mustard yellow wool coat seemed like the perfect addition to my winter wardrobe.  Because I tend to stick with the classics when it comes to coats, this piece was a fun adventure out of my comfort zone.

My coat closet consists of… a camel coat, black coat, puffer jacket, fleece jacket, leather jacket (ok more like 5), and some fun faux and vintage fur coats.  But nothing like this yellow one!

Here’s how to style a yellow wool coat…

Being this color I thought it would be difficult to style but it was surprisingly easy.  I love the way it looks with jeans or black pants like they are styled here.  I paired it with my favorite cropped jeans and these ankle boots.  (Style note –I cut the hem off of the jeans for a frayed look.)

And how about these boots...

They are my new favorites!  I own them in brown but I just ordered a pair of black ones too.  And why do I love them so much?  Besides the fact that the price is right, they are comfortable and give me a little extra height, and they also work perfectly with all my cropped jeans!  That’s right, take all your cropped jeans from this spring and summer and pair them with a pair of these boots.  Trust me, it’s a great look!
