As a fashion blogger who usually shoots a street style aesthetic, I tend to stay within the city limits.  But today it was time to bend the rules and try something new.  I’ve lived in Oklahoma most of my life, but I never felt like I’ve explored enough of the more rural areas of my home.  Neither had my husband, so today my partner in crime (and photographer) and I took off to explore the country’s most famous highway.  I may be a city girl at heart but I was up to the adventure of getting my boots (more like heels) dirty out in the country.

Inspired by the new HP x360 Behind The Scenes video my husband and I took off for a Route 66 roadtrip.  Our first stop was at the famous Pops restaurant, a charming yet modern eatery right on the highway.  It’s most famous for serving just about every kind of soda pop from all over the world.  Some of their more crazy flavors include Buffalo Wing Sauce and Peanut Butter & Jelly.  Pops takes the old fashion soda fountain burger joint and flips it on its head.

After reliving my childhood with a classic Crush soda, I couldn’t help but explore the nearby Round Barn.  Another famous Route 66 landmark, this 100+ year old barn is one of a kind.  Constructed with curved wooden beams, this is not your normal little red barn.  It has been restored and reopened as a museum, with a second floor that can be rented for events.  It may not be your normal barn but it just screams classic southern Americana.  To end our excursion, what’s more iconic of this area than longhorn cattle?

Most of our Saturdays are spent running around the city in search of that perfect place to shoot.  This time I’m glad we broke out from the routine.  What struck me the most from the HP x360 Behind The Scenes video was the marriage of many different artists and styles coming together to bring the project to life.  I realized that I could combine my fashion photography with the charm of my home state.
