Getting my smile back with Invisalign

Since I take almost daily outfit photos I quickly noticed changes in my appearance. Around two years ago I noticed a change in my smile. I suddenly had a small gap between two of my teeth that was NEVER there before. I continued to keep my eye on this new unwelcome development, and after another year I noticed that not only did that gap get bigger but my two front teeth were starting to turn inward. Complete panic ensued! Honestly, I shouldn’t have been surprised because I did the number one thing you’re not supposed to do when you have had braces… never wear my retainer. Not only did I not wear it, I hadn’t owned a retainer since sometime in high school! My teeth were moving back quickly and I knew I had to do something about it…

I couldn’t fathom having to get braces all over again so I started to do my research.  I had heard about Invisalign and even came across other brands of removable aligners but I decided to go to the experts.  After speaking with my dentist he highly recommended Dr. David Birdwell at Orthodontic Arts.  I couldn’t make an appointment quick enough!

At my first appointment Dr. Birdwell assured me that braces would not be necessary and that I was a perfect candidate for Invisalign!  I was so relieved when I heard this!  (Let’s just say that metal braces don’t go with my outfit photos.)  After a quick scan of my teeth, he said in only 6 months I would have my smile back.

Being a writer who talks about fashion and beauty, let me say that self-confidence is a huge part of what I do.  And because of my teeth I had lost some of mine.  I can’t wait to get my confidence back and to share the results with you.  I’m so excited to partner with Orthodontic Arts and next month I’ll be back to share with you what wearing Invisalign is like!

Invisalign is a miracle! I had a similar situation as you (braces as a kid, lost retainer, teeth moving back to original position – yikes!). I def didn’t want to have metal mouth again as an adult. I visited multiple orthodontists, many who said my case was too bad for Invisalign, but finally one said “Challenge accepted!” and he did an amazing job! Good for you for pursuing Invisalign! It’s so easy and so worth it. Your smile will be happy, and I know our teeth will appreciate it when we’re older 🙂

  • Yay for Invisalign. I had braces as a kid, and let’s just say mine were real real bad. So invisalign wouldn’t have been an option. I love that this is available. Loved your post!!!

I had braces when I was in junior high and then had them removed when I was a freshman. Since then I have had a couple teeth on the bottom move. Invisalign is so neat and I have definitely thought about trying it out.

  • I’m down with getting just about any procedure done in that pretty, clean space. 🙂

  • I’m also currently working on getting my smile back. I did the same thing of getting braces and then somewhere along the line my retainer was lost. My teeth immediately shifted – especially after getting my wisdom teeth removed. Glad to read other stories about people who are going through the same experience.
