Our stay in Aspen was pretty perfect.  With the temperatures in the 50s and 60s, I could finally wear all the cute sweaters that I had sitting my closet.  And as for outfits I’ve had this one in my mind for a while.

I had been wanting a brown leather ruffled skirt for awhile now but wasn’t sure how I was going to style it.  Also, there was the price.  I wasn’t looking to splurge on one because the ruffled leather trend seemed, well a bit trendy.   That’s why I was so happy when I tracked down this vegan leather ruffled skirt from Nordstrom.  Their “trending now” department has so many great brands, styles, and at a lower price point which I really appreciate.  Because even when I love some of the more crazier trends, I don’t want to spend crazy money on them.  My suggestion… save on really trendy pieces and splurge more on shoes and handbags.  That’s what I always do!

Now let’s talk about how to style a brown leather skirt…

Since this one is a little short and it was rather chilly, I styled it with my favorite over the knee boots and this cream colored sweater.  With the skirt being the stand out piece I kept the rest of my outfit pretty neutral.  I also love the look of mixing brown and black.  It looks so classic!  The next time I wear this skirt I’m thinking of wearing it with a grey sweater and little brown booties, because in OKC it’s still warm enough for bare legs!
