When we landed in New York City it was cold, dark and I was completely exhausted. Even though we were in one of my favorite cities in the world, all I could think of was SLEEP. Fortunately when we arrived at the Mondrian Park Avenue Hotel there was a comfy bed waiting for us… and it was hidden behind a sliding door disguised as a mirror! The room turned out to be the perfect place for relaxing and getting snowed in. More on that in a sec…
So, our our first full day in the city was a bit cool but pleasant enough to walk around and explore the city. I was so excited to wear this darling floral top which that I hoped would help bring on the spring weather. Well…my wish didn’t come true and the next day ended up being a snowstorm arrived. Thankfully the snow didn’t stick but the wind made it unbearable to go outside so we enjoyed a snow day inside.
When we weren’t in our room we spent time downstairs at the Cleo (the hotel’s modern Mediterranean restaurant) or upstairs at their beautiful rooftop lounge Fifteen Stories, where we could enjoy a drink enjoyed a late afternoon cocktail and watched the snow. But my favorite part was enjoying room service and a cup of tea in our room and just being lazy for the day.
This NYC luxury hotel is located just blocks from the Empire State Building and Madison Square Park and offers everything the weary traveler could want… including style. I took so many photos of the room not just to show you all but for my own decorating ideas. (I love the art above the bed!) We were lucky to stay in the plush Mondrian Suite which features a king size bed along with a separate seating area with marble dining table and glass bar.
It’s a spacious room that has the feel of a cozy NYC apartment. There couldn’t have been a more perfect place to spend our snow day…
When though we were stuck indoors I must say that my favorite part of the day was lounging lazily in our room with room service and a cup of tea.
The next morning all the snow had stopped, and we were able to enjoy the city. After some window shopping we met my best friend, who happened to be in NYC on business, for a lovely dinner. Our trip didn’t end there, though. The following day we switched things up for a different take on the city. See what I’m talking about next week!
