When I was growing up, my family and I would always look forward to our ski vacations in Colorado. Wintertime always held a magical charm to me as a child, but it wasn’t until I was an adult that I also fell in love with their summers. The crisp mountain air was such a relief from the steamy Oklahoma summers that I’m used to. Paired with all the gorgeous flowers and lush scenery, I’m starting to think summer might just be my favorite season in Colorado.
After battling a little traffic in Denver, the short 2 hour trip up into the mountains was so peaceful. I never get over just how beautiful everything is here. The destination of our trip was The Ritz-Carlton, Bachelor Gulch, located about 15 minutes from Vail. This luxurious lodge is set atop Beaver Creek Mountain and is perfect for those looking for a little adventure. The hotel has ski-in and ski-out access, along with an award winning spa, and partnership with the Red Sky Golf Club, home to Colorado’s highest-rated golf courses.
Upon arrival, we were excited to get settled in and start exploring the grounds. Already waiting for us in the room was a darling s’more kit for later that evening. Every night the hotel hosts an evening marshmallow roast around their terrace fire pit, complete with skewers and a beautiful mountainside view. It’s a wonderful activity for kids or anyone wanting to relive some childhood memories while enjoying the fire. We ended our day with dinner at the hotel’s restaurant Spago, the famed restaurant of renowned chef Wolfgang Puck. It was a fabulous meal but more on that and the rest of our stay later this week. Stay tuned!
