After spending several chilly days in the Andes mountains, I was excited to get back to the warm sun of the coast.  Paracas is small port town in southern Peru.  It’s known for many species of wildlife, especially  the extensive varieties of birds, including penguins!

After a three hour drive south from Lima we arrived at the Hotel Paracas Resort…

This modern resort is designed for guests who are thirsty for adventure…or simply a pisco sour by the pool.  Drinks and relaxation were just what we had in mind after the long drive so we changed into our swimsuits and went to find a cabana.  After a dip in the pool and that pisco sour, it was time for some ceviche in the charming restaurant located at the end of the dock.  The fresh seafood paired nicely with a beautiful view of the bay and its many birds.  We ended our evening by heading back to the room to prepare for an elegant dinner at the main  Ballestas restaurant located on the property.  (Here’s a peek at what I wore.)
