I don’t always cover the collections, but I had to do a post regarding Chanel’s recent resort show. The desert proved to be the perfect backdrop for Lagerfeld’s colorful frocks. This collection included everything from the cliché (satin slippers and harem pants) to Chanel’s timeless trademarks (gold CC’s, tweed, layered jewels). The real show, however, may have taken place off the catwalk. Karl’s guests arrived by boat to a manmade island with fake palm trees and a hanger adorned with screens of interlocking Chanel C’s.
Fast fashion may be booming but apparently luxury items are also here to stay.
