Over the years I’ve been asked many questions about what this blog is about, or what I do.
I think it’s about time that I address them!
Do you shop every day?
Absolutely, however, I don’t usually purchase. I’m always watching to see when my new favorite finds go on sale.
Why do you blog?
I come from a creative background. Most of my family is artistic and I’ve always felt happiest when I’m creating something. Wonderland truly feeds my creativity. Also, I live in an area that isn’t exactly known for fashion and this blog has helped connect me with other fashion obsessed people like myself. But it must be known that Oklahoma is much more fashionable than you think!
Do you have tons of clothing?
I really don’t have as much as you might expect. I’m always joking that my closet is like the NASDAQ — there is constant buying, selling, and trading going on. I’m always on ebay or donating pieces that I no longer wear. I only keep items that are sentimental, classic, or have value.
How do you find so many great deals?
Email – I have signed up for email updates from ALL of my favorite stores. I actually have an email account that is only for shopping! It might sound a bit crazy, but it’s the best way to keep your sales organized. If you don’t want to be tempted to shop, simply don’t check it. I check mine daily to see what’s going on or coming up so that I can blog about it. Also, the site Popsugar will send you an email of the best sales going on every week.*
(*There are many more sites like this, please let me know which ones you use in the comments!)
Ebay – Ebay is everything! I could spend HOURS on there looking for great deals and vintage pieces. Just keep an eye out for fakes! Below is an example of my “high/low” style of dressing. You may think that my Chanel bag cost a fortune but I found it at an estate sale, and the Miu Miu’s I found on eBay for about 80% off retail.
Cheap thrills – Target, Forever 21, Zara, and Baublebar are great places to buy the occasional trendy piece that you know you won’t wear forever. I’ve talked about my dislike of disposable fashion before but for a cheap thrill they are great resources. Wanting to spend less and support artists? Try Etsy!
Above is an explanation of my favorite mix of high and low end designers.
Do you receive free clothes?
Yes, occasionally I receive free clothing or I’m paid to promote an item. If you see a c/o that means it was gifted to me. If I don’t like it you won’t find it in Wonderland. I only promote what I love or believe in.
Who takes your photographs? What camera do you use?
Fernando is my photographer… he also happens to be my husband and that’s his middle name. Doesn’t the name Fernando automatically make you think of a photog? I thought so! He graciously takes my photos using a Nikon D90 with a Nikon 55-300mm lens. Any photos taken in 2010 were by myself using a tripod. And you can definitely tell a difference…
Do you blog full time?
Not yet, my friends. It’s rare to find a full-time blogger. Currently, I have an 8 to 5 job, a social media job (which I will talk about later), and I run this blog. This leaves me very little time for sleep or much else but I love having a full plate and it affords me the opportunity to splurge on the occasional pair of heels.
Can I contact you?
Certainly! Always feel free to message me regarding fashion questions or about blogging. Leave me a message on this post or email me at Allysoninwonderland@live.com.
Hope this provided you a little insight into my world!
