decorating ~ living room edition

Yesterday blogger Emily Schuman of Cupcakes and Cashmere posted a darling video on how to decor a coffee table.

This got me thinking that,
a) I need to clean my coffee table
b) I need to clean my living room
c) I need to find my coffee table because I can’t see it due to the messy living room
(And somewhere in Texas my Mom is weeping…)

All jokes aside, my home is a bit of a disaster.  With the crazy holiday and lots of traveling, my home has been completely neglected.  I’m not big into new year’s resolutions, but this year my resolution is to get my home in order!

Remember this is what my living room looks like, minus the rugs. We are now in the process of ordering a white shag.  And below is what my coffee table looked like during the  holidays… holiday coffee table

On the table ~ Bowl and cinnamon pine cones from Target, Voluspa ‘ceramica atla’ candle from Blue Seven (available online here), ‘Holidays on Ice’ by David Sedaris, and ‘The First 40 Years of W Magazine

Now it’s time to take away the pine cones and ‘Holidays on Ice’, but what should I add now?  I’ve been looking for a tray and I love this one from Dwell Studio, but I’m thinking a simple white tray maybe best after looking at my recent purchases…

colorful living room accessories

Top left and clockwise ~ Painting by Erin Cooper (isn’t it positively lovely?!?), Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams ‘Ming’ console table (I swear we own half the store), Jaipur Maroc ‘Salma’ Ebony Flat Weave Wool Rug (for the entry), large West Elm lacquer tray (for the coffee table)

blue agate bookends

This past weekend while in Dallas, I picked up these AMAZING agate bookends while at Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams.  This picture doesn’t do them justice!  They are shiny and sparkly and I just want to make a giant necklace out them.  But I won’t, for now.

And this concludes our tour de living room, what do you think?
