Recently, I was asked by a twitter friend what were my most important travel items.
Here are a few…
Oversized bag – A large handbag is a necessity for me. I usually have all my travel info and a book or iPad stashed inside. If its a short trip, I’ll try to only pack one large bag and a clutch for going out. I can put all of my jewelry and valuables inside the clutch and then pack it inside my large handbag. This way I have all my goodies with me, and not in my checked baggage.
Flats or comfortable wedges – I have several pairs of flats, but honestly I feel more comfortable in heels. These DVF wedges are my favorite! With a zipper in the back, they are easy to slip on and off. (The brown ones are half off at SSENSE right now, and Zappos has twelve different color combinations.)
And flip flops in the airport gross me out — I don’t want to see a dude’s hairy toes!
Simple jewels – I try to look chic even when I’m schlepping myself and my bags across the airport terminal. My advice is to stick with one or two fun statement pieces — it’s much easier than removing six bracelets or a bunch of necklaces when going through security.
But the MOST important travel item isn’t in the pictures above…
I never leave home without a long lightweight cardigan. When traveling, I always dress in layers so that I can be comfortable whether hot or cold. If I get warm I’ll wrap my cardigan around my neck like an oversized scarf, to keep it out of the way till needed. I find this one from Splendid gets the job done.
Wearing in Wonderland – Alexander Wang tank, J.Brand white jeans, Alexander Wang “Morgan” bag, Kenneth Jay Lane coral ring, Kenneth Jay Lane fringe necklace, Tom Ford sunglasses
