This Friday's spread is bit different.
Most of the spreads I post are girly and have something to do with designer Tom Ford.
(LOVE YOU, TOM!)
Today's spread is taken from W's February Movie Issue and features the lovely Rooney Mara…
…as The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.
Enjoy.
DAVID FINCHER GETS THE GIRL:
THE DARKLY OBSESSIVE DIRECTOR OF FIGHT CLUB AND THE SOCIAL NETWORK TAKES ON THE BIGGEST FRANCHISE SINCE HARRY POTTER—THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO. AN EXCLUSIVE FIRST LOOK FROM THE SET OF THE YEAR’S MOST ANTICIPATED FILM.
To prepare for the role of Lisbeth Salander, actress Rooney Mara (shown here on location in Stockholm) had her eyebrows bleached, her hair chopped, and her lip, brow, nose, and nipple pierced—all in one “very intense” day.
Mara wears Diesel’s cotton denim jeans.
To achieve Salander’s signature look, director David Fincher analyzed every detail, from her (temporary) tattoos to her essence.
Balenciaga by Nicolas Ghesquiere’s nylon twill top; Burberry Prorsum’s leather pants. bracelets, from left: J Dauphin, Stephen Webster, Giuseppe Zanotti, stylist’s own; Bijules rings; Tawapa earrings.
Mara, the offspring of two football dynasties, “may be a trust-fund baby,” says Fincher, “but she’s levelheaded and hardworking.”
Trish Summerville’s cotton T-shirt; vintage tutu. bracelets, from left: stylist’s own, J Dauphin, Toile des Reves; Tawapa earrings; Jelena Behrend necklace.
Fincher’s film departs dramatically from the book: Mikael Blomkvist is more gentlemanly, Salander (shown here on the motorcycle from the movie) is more aggressive—and the ending has been completely altered.
Balmain’s black cotton T-shirt; Agent Provocateur’s polyamide and elastane briefs. Tawapa earrings, Sandberg necklace and bracelet, Stephen Webster ring, Falke tights, fogal socks, vintage boots.
Salander is an update of the iconic Scandinavian character Pippi Longstocking. “Lisbeth is the goth Pippi,” confirms the director. Here, a glimpse of the book’s namesake tattoo.
Balenciaga by Nicolas Ghesquiere’s silk and cotton knit top. Tawapa earrings, Jelena Behrend necklace. Hair by Torsten Witte for Moroccanoil; makeup by Pat McGrath for covergirl. Production by Day Stockholm. Tattoo by Torsten Witte for Temptu Tattos.
