Winter shorts.

I don't know if I can dig it… but I'll try them out due to a request from my dear friend Katherine.

 

 

Instead of buying them I shall make my own.

 

In their previous life these were wide-leg sailor pants, purchased at J. Crew when I was in 10th grade.  Yes, that makes them a little over 10 years old. 

Aged perfectly.

Took them to my tailor (a.k.a Mummy) and voila we have cuffed winter shorts.

 

 

 

My dressy shorts look has them paired with Etoile Isabel Marant blazer, Spanx tights, cheapy bracelets, and Max Azria booties.

  

 

 

 

 

 

Now let's dress this down a bit…

 

 

Now worn with Brochu Walker blouse and my FAVORITE Juicy riding boots.

 

 

 

 

 

Oops, it appears that I've broken several of my resolutions…

I have ALWAYS had a love of feathers.  As a kid I would watch Green Acres on Nick at Night and dream that I owned Eva Gabor's wardrobe…

 

 

Oooh look at the pink and feather perfection!!! 

Yes, it's a bit ridiculous. If I dressed like that children (and adults) would laugh and point. 

So I must get my feather fix another way… and then I remembered this.

 

 

  

Ummm, hellooooo fabulousness!

This jacket was featured in my last post, and I have not been able to get over it.  I'm in love with this feather blazer creation! 

Problem:  $575

Not exactly in my budget, but I can't go without!!!  How will I feed my need for feather?

  

I SHALL MAKE MY OWN!!!!

  

  

What you will need:

feathers (bought 3 bags of them at Michael's craft store – $3 each)

grosgrain ribbon

strips of self-adhesive velcro

glue gun

 

 

First measure the bottom of your jacket and cut 2 strips of that length. 

Using your glue gun, glue feathers along the edge of one of the ribbons.

When you're finished take that ribbon and glue it to the other ribbon so that both sides of the feathers are covered. 

Then cut a strip of the velcro same length as the ribbon.

Apply one side of the velcro strip to the bottom of the jacket,  and apply the other strip of velcro to the ribbon.  

And VOILA…

You have a jacket with a removable feather trim — two jackets in one!

 

 

 

 

 

 

I like how it instantly dresses up my LBD.
